Years ago I hiked to the bottom along the Kaibab Trail to Phantom Ranch and returned to the south rim on the Bright Angel Trail.
This fall I had the opportunity to view the canyon from the north rim.
Until this recent trip to the canyon I had not visited the west side of the canyon. Through a local college I was able to join a day trip that included a drive to the bottom via Peach Springs and Diamond Creek Canyons. The college arranged for the permits required from the Hualapai Community. The area of the canyon we would be driving through is part of their land and home.
Their history is woven with dark and inhumane aspects of U.S. History. Two-thirds of the population died while in the concentration camp near LaPaz, Arizona. Survivors were brave and bold when they escaped and walked back to their homeland.

Kick off your hiking boots and take a quick tour of the Grand Canyon-to the bottom via Peach Springs and Diamond Springs Canyons.
Look closely at the rock on the right. This was once at the bottom of the ocean. The smooth beach-like waves are still evident.

The photo below was described as "nonconformist rock formation". The darker rock on the bottom was once ocean floor with the lighter colored rock pushing it. I would need to take a graduate level geology course for better understanding.
"You cannot see the Grand Canyon in one view, as if it were a changeless spectacle from which a curtain might be lifted, but to see it, you have to toil from month to month through its labyrinths."
~John Wesley Powell
