Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, Mexico - February 2019

Travel of any type is always on my wish list. I've shared adventure, leisure, road trips, family reunion, cultural, historic and even themed trips on this blog. This trip was a birthday vacation! My friend of nearly 40 years generously offered to help me celebrate my birthday at their beach home in Puerto Peñasco in the state of Sonora, Mexico. So, of course I'm sure you know my reply was a certain yes!
Puerto Peñasco has many nicknames including Rocky Point and Arizona's Beach.  Beautiful beaches are one of the many reasons to visit this small town and the surrounding beach communities.

Pour yourself a refreshment, put your feet up and enjoy the tour of Puerto Peñasco!

My friend's home is in Playa Encanto which is a few miles out town. This was the view from my guest home. Sea of Cortez in the distance and within walking distance of one of the most beautiful beaches.

Walking on a deserted beach is such a peaceful experience-what a joy!

My longtime friend and I enjoy another adventure together!

After pulling ourselves away from the beach at low tide we explored the town. My friend has had a home there for 17 years so she is an expert guide. Her and her husband adapt seemingly effortlessly to different living environments including a beach home in a solar community, a historic cabin in the national forest, a houseboat and a suburban home.

 A little marketing humor!

We stopped at a small store front housing a tortilla store. The procedure was like observing a well-tuned orchestra. And the product was delicious!

Continuing through the town I noticed some beautiful street art. If you've followed my travels you know my love of this art form.

The photos below were taken in a gift shop. I requested a second visit because I knew I didn't see it all the first time! It is a beautiful store with gorgeous items.

Let's not forget it was a birthday trip!

Thanks for joining me on my birthday road trip to Puerto Peñasco. My next adventure will be in April and will be international.....you can be sure I'll post!
