San Miguel de Allende, Mexico - Wedding Weekend - September 2022
I have decided a new term needs to be coined. When friends become family how do we refer to these wonderful souls? Friendfam? Frienfamily? I know how I refer to them - with love. I am fortunate to have friends who have become family. When two of these friends announced their daughter was engaged the wedding planning began. Then the planning was interrupted by the covid pandemic. A plan stretching across multi-continents was eventually in the works. Oh what a plan it would be!
The wedding of the century would take place in a charming city in Mexico. You may ask if my friends or their daughter live in Mexico. No, but the story of how this beautiful location was chosen is a story for another time. When I write the book I will share the title with you!
Wedding weekend would be in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Events leading up to the ceremony and following the big day were planned for all wedding guests. Each event was unique and offered a bit of charm from this region of Mexico. I hope the photos give you at least an idea of the beauty of this part of the world.
Pour yourself a glass of bubbly and get ready to toast this lovely couple.
San Miguel de Alende was especially dressed up in preparations for Mexican Independence Day celebration on September 16th.

A welcoming party was held at a family member's home and hosted by another family member. Remember that book I mentioned? Well, the story will unfold in the book! The welcoming party was a fabulous kick off to an unbelievable wedding celebration. Below are a few photos from this fun filled evening. Meeting guests from all over the world was a real treat for me!
Two Mariachi bands provided a festive start to the party!
Fresh flowers were everywhere! Beautifully arranged and the aroma was amazing.
A toast by the hostess and host to the soon to be bride and groom.
Let's keep this party going on the rooftop!
As every good party should end it ended in the kitchen with sandwich making by groom's mother.
The next day we were treated to a lovely lunch at a local vineyard hosted by the groom's mother.
Waiting for the shuttles. This is a fun group!
The groom's mother toasted the soon to be newlyweds.
Now that is a wine cellar/tasting room!
Believe it or not in between all these fun wedding events we enjoyed dinners, shopping and local sites.
The day of the wedding ceremony we were greeted with blue skies and sunshine! As we gathered at the house we were all anticipating a beautiful day for the marriage of an extraordinary couple. I do not think any of us could have imagined the luscious, spectacular venue!
We all gathered and waited for the wedding of the century. The couple requested no photos so we could all focus on the ceremony.
The reception started poolside with an incredible view.
Hand rolled cigars for the celebration.
Smoke 'em if you got 'em.
A colorful appetizer ready to enjoy.
"'Cause every girl crazy 'bout a sharp-dressed man."
And the band played all night and guests danced and danced and danced!
Disco Fever!
Alonso was our dancing waiter. Great waiter and great dancer.
What an incredible celebration for this special couple joining two continents.
Did the celebrating end with the wedding? You guessed it-no it did not!
The following day we all joined together at a relaxing music venue in the country. Great food, drink, music and a lot of fun relaxing with new friends!
