Road Trip-Fall 2015 AZ & UT

September 9 & 10
Road trips! Just the thought of the open road sparks imagination and planning. My love of road trips most likely began as a child. Our family was fortunate and took at least one road trip every year. Our parents knew that travel ignited learning and also fostered the open-mindedness character trait which they encouraged. The theme of this trip is family, friends and fun! A few of the stops planned include Idaho, Minnasota and of course Wisconsin! Buckle up, grab your cooler and sunglasses because here we go!

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness....
~Mark Twain
My first day was a landscape adventure! Visiting the North Rim of the Grand Canyon has been on my list for a long time. It did not disappoint. So different from the South Rim. Both beautiful and majestic. The route took me through the NE region of our beautiful state of Arizona.
Photos in this post include Navajo Bridge, Vermilion Cliffs, North Rim, and finally Zion National Park in Utah.
At Jacob Lake Lodge I attended a photography presentation given by photographer Matt Rich. You can find more about his work here; http://www.mattrichphotography.com I learned a lot and it inspired me to keep taking photos!
MJ Photos, with or without watermarks, are original and provided for personal viewing. Please enjoy while viewing the blog.

The photos below are from the North Kaibab Trail. When my son, a friend and I hiked to Phantom Ranch from the South Rim we descended down the South Kaibab Trail. Hiking a bit of the northern end of the same trail brought back many memories. Learn more; http://www.nps.gov/grca/planyourvisit/upload/North_Kaibab_Trail.pdf

End of the day at Jacobs Lake Lodge. A Fat Tire brew-one of my mom's favorite. Mom and dad would have enjoyed today's road trip adventures.

Look closely at the center of the photo. The small dark area is the tunnel I just exited before taking this photo.

Time to gas up Gypsy and hit the open road!
