Travel can be one of the most rewarding forms of introspection.

My flight arrived in Medford and I rented a car. A friend and colleague who I worked with 14 years ago was my first stop. She lives in Ashland and we had a wonderful time catching up. She was a perfect hostess and arranged for me to have a back stage tour of the Ashland Shakespeare Festival.
Wildfires were burning around the surrounding areas of Ashland. Which brings me to my next stop; visiting Matt and Eleasha in Klameth Falls. I am very proud of this young couple. Eleasha works tirelessly as a traveling nurse and Matt is a hotshot firefighter. Fortunately Matt was on a break between fires and I was able to see him. The photos below are from the Klameth Falls and Crater Lake area.
The crew had just returned from a fire in Washington. A local coffee shop treated them to beverages before they departed.
From Klameth Falls I headed to Bend. My cousin's daughter, Kim, moved to Bend after college graduation. She was so gracious and extended an invitation to explore Bend. Always fun to hangout with young people. So much positive energy and fun ideas!
An Ocean Roll from The Sparrow Bakery. Thanks to my local connection in Bend (Kim) I knew about this local favorite!
As I continued my Oregon adventure my route took me to Grants Pass. a beautiful scenic drive treated me to wilderness scenes, vineyards and the picturesque town of Grants Pass.
A walk-in Dutch Bros Coffee Shop with coffee ice cream! The day I visited happened to be the first day of school in the district from which I retired. I celebrated my retirement in style!
From Grants Pass I set off on my Redwoods and Oregon Coast adventure. My friend who I visited in Ashland shared a "must see" Redwoods route off of South Fork road. The verbal directions went something like this; turn left onto South Fork road-it will turn to a gravel surface, cross a bridge, turn right and enjoy! I might add this discussion took place while we drank a glass of Oregon Pinot Gris. The best travel plans are created with friends while having a refreshment! Another great local connection with invaluable travel tips!
My Redwoods experience was absolutely amazing. Taking the road less traveled proves time and time again to be the most rewarding!
The Oregon Coast trip included a Pirate Festival in Brookings and a relaxing evening on the beach in Gold Beach.
Signs, signs, everywhere there are fun signs!
......and an "old school" visual of my Oregon trail......
Sharing my travel adventures is so much fun. It gives me the opportunity to reflect on my travels. Thank you for taking a look!
All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware.
