Nashville & Atlanta - May 2022

Travel and meeting new people is a combination that I believe can’t be beat! A Nashville and Atlanta adventure provided both opportunities!

I’ll share photos of  Nashville Honky Tonks, Atlanta Botanical Garden, Georgia Tech campus, and a lot more!

Grab a refreshment and join me on a whirlwind visit to Nashville and Atlanta!

Tootsies Orchid Lounge!
My parents planned a trip to Nashville and I remember that they discussed Tootsies and made it a major site seeing stop!

We used the Tootsie "back alley entrance" and entered the main floor from the loft area. Did I mention this was at 10:00am? Live music was rocking!

Well if you know Nashville you know the story behind this combination! Robert’s World for brunch!

We know the talented designer who created the incredible lobby and bar of the Noelle Hotel.

Next stop was the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Below are a few photos from our visit.

Below are a just a few examples of Nashville's street art.

The Ryman Auditorium was on our list of must see Nashville sites. Unfortunately the concert we had tickets for was cancelled the morning of the concert. Melissa Etheridge missed seeing two crazy, fun fans that night!

Another day and another Tootsie visit. The band was on fire!
Lead singer belting out songs from the bar top!

A few days in Nashville visiting family and experiencing the music scene and we were off to Atlanta.
A road trip through beautiful green rolling hills led us to our next adventure.

What is a road trip without an unplanned stop?
We found ourselves at the Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee. The tour was very informative. Did you know that every drop of all Jack Daniel's whiskey comes from this one distillery?

We came. We learned. We tasted!

Atlanta was another city I had never visited. We spent a few days and explored a little of what the city has to offer. Atlanta Botanical Garden, Georgia Tech, and the city center were on our ambitious list of sites.

Origami in the Garden was the theme.

Day and night view from our AirBnb in Midtown Atlanta.

We visited Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) on graduation day. Exploring campus with an Alumni made it even more interesting. What a beautiful campus!

Three African American matriculates of the Institute - 1961
Ford C. Greene, Ralph A. Long, Jr. and Lawrence M. Williams

Go Yellow Jackets!

Graduates were everywhere on campus. We were fortunate to have a brief conversation with this Chemical Engineering (Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering) grad. Had to take a photo of a new graduate and a Chemical Engineering alumni.

Rosa Parks is one of my heroes. This art installation depicts her at ages 42 and 92.

Hammocks for a relaxing break on campus.

A quick lunch at The Varsity was quite an experience.
You are greeted with "What'll Ya Have?" and they want your order fast and some items have a code name.
(FO stands for Frosted Orange and PC stands for Pure Chocolate.)

Next we visited the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center

A few photos from our walks in the Atlanta suburbs.

I love Little Free Libraries.

I wanted to try traditional Southern food. Oh so tasty!
Fun Fact; Mac and Cheese is considered a vegetable in the South!

Atlanta City Center

The historic Fox Theater was across the street and we attended an excellent Gospel Music concert.
