Describing travel as a delight and a challenge all in the same breath seems contradictory. This adventure will take us to seven countries. So much to see and explore! The delight is found in new experiences along the way. The challenge is to see each site with fresh eyes while remembering all that the experiences have to offer.
This adventure starts in Prague. Well to be accurate it starts with packing, planning, reserving and a lot of work. All of this is worth the adventure!
A combination of air, train and ship travel will take us to cities from Prague to Paris with many destinations in between.
My first post will take you to Prague and Budapest. Breathtaking architectural works and natural beauty surrounds us in these cities.
A post about Prague would not be complete without a mention of bachelor (stag) parties. These are very popular and men travel from all parts of Europe to celebrate. Groups roam around and party.
…….and here are two tourists not joining the young people who are partying…well maybe sometimes…
The Charles Bridge. Finished in 1402 this bridge is lined with elaborate Gothic statues.
The castle on the hill is reached by a long uphill walk - well longer if you take a path less followed! Sometimes I need to check route on map and not wander.
There is no denying the nefariousness acts of a dictatorship and the resulting suffering and death. We toured the Jewish Quarter and the sobering facts were surrounded by the beauty of the Synagogue.
The children’s artwork displayed here is the original art created by children who were suffering through these horrific times. Their community did everything possible to give the children an environment to survive and art was part of the structured activities.
“Stumble Stones memorialize the person who resided at that location and was a victim of the holocaust.

As you can imagine our last day included more exploration and of course some tasty treats!
A statue in memorial of Frank Kafka.
In front of the library.
A beer at my favorite hangout in Prague. It is called Lokal. Great beer and food!
A short flight to Budapest and we enter our second country.
The Little Princess Statue
The artist was inspired by his eldest daughter. Artist: Laszlo Marton
(Thanks to my friend who is a top notch travel researcher!)
Paprika and lavender are two popular products produced in Hungary.
I love observing children being loved and joyful!
St. Stephen’s Basilica
A metro ride under the Danube River and we are treated with the sites of Buda. And also beautiful views of Pest.
“Travel isn’t always pretty. It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s okay. The journey changes you, it should change you. It leaves Mark’s on your memory, on your conscience, on your heart and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully you leave something good behind.”
