Berlin Neighborhood

June 1, 2014
My first full day in Berlin was spent exploring the neighborhood. Most of the day was spent exploring the Berlin Wall Memorial and those photos are included in a separate post.

The photos included in this post are from the area around my apartment (or flat as it is referred to here) and also from a flea market that I found as I ventured out on my 1st day. Enjoy and thanks for checking my blog.

A note about human behavior I have observed here and in Lisbon. Children are approached with patience and humor. Children greet adults with an anticipation of pleasure-especially when greeting older adults. Mutual love and respect might be a good description of this relationship.
Are you thirsty? The store owner was dancing and danced for a photo.
 Home
again after a great day of sight seeing. This is the courtyard as I enter the building where my flat is located.
Good Nacht

  2. Looks like a nice neighborhood. Love the beer and pretzels--takes me back to St Louis and my German roots! My first childhood home was in a four-family FLAT. You were wise to take your trip now and avoid the high temperatures here. The pool has warmed up significantly.
